VILLAGERS dressed in costume for their second annual two-day festival in 1970. Pictured are the rector, the Rev WE Dane, Mrs E Costar, Mrs K Beck, Mr R Roden, Mr G Watts and Mr N Roden. The festival, in aid of the parish church, was held at Woodperry, the Georgian home of the Lord Lieutenant of Oxfordshire, Colonel John Thomson.
Headmaster Roy Roden is seen giving advice to beginners when the village primary school’s new pool, paid for by the parent-teacher association, opened in 1968.
In 1985, villagers revealed hidden talents when they opened their homes to the public – visitors were invited to see local craftsmen and women at work. The picture shows Lizzie Cook giving a spinning demonstration.
