The glitz and glamour of Formula One might seem a world away to many in Oxfordshire, but any breakaway competition might have serious consequences for teams based in, and close to, the county.
Enstone-based Renault and Brackley-based Brawn GP are two of eight teams considering forming a rival competition in a row over a proposed budget cap.
Grove-based Williams F1 are not part of the breakaway group.
Ironically, perhaps, another competition may mean less revenue spread across more teams – and with it serious consequences for the hundreds of people in Oxfordshire who rely on the sport for a living.
