Two servicemen from RAF Benson broke a world 24-hour archery record today.
Sgt Jamie Fowler and Sgt Martin Phair smashed the current record with two and a half hours to spare. They scored 37,359 points in the challenge, which – subject to ratification – should stand as the new Guinness World Record.
They were raising money for military charity Combat Stress and Macmillan Cancer Support. They shot 2,232 arrows each and walked more than 25km.
Sgt Phair said the highlight was shooting one arrow into the shaft of an arrow already in the bullseye.
