THOUSANDS of people attended this year’s Banbury and District show during a warm sunny weekend.
Spiceball Park was awash with adults and children to see the inaugural show on Sunday, which featured displays from the Air Training Corps, Bodicote Royal British Legion, Suruj Bhangra Dancers and Jive Pony.
Organisers estimated the show attracted more than 4,000 people, with many saying they could not wait until next year’s event.
Dozens stayed to watch the arena for the day while others enjoyed the many attractions in the middle field.
The up ‘n’ over dog show received more entries than expected with the many different canine breeds taking it in turns to perform to the crowd.
The tug of war challenge saw some rivalry fun between the eight teams with Door Safe Security taking away the trophy ready to be challenged again next year.
Ann Sewell, event organiser, said: “This show exceeded all of our expectations, with a continual stream of public it was hard to believe where everybody was coming from.
“Thanks must go to all participants and most importantly the public of Banbury and beyond, they truly made the 2009 show unforgettable.”
