AS FAR as foul ups go, it’s hard to beat the one caused on Monday by Oxfordshire County Council.
In what can only be put down as forgetfulness, the authority failed to warn the public it was resurfacing parts of Magdalen Bridge.
The result: chaos.
Trying to negotiate St Clement’s and get into the city was nigh on impossible for most of the day on Monday, with traffic backed up to Headington Hill at some stages.
However, at least County Hall had the good grace to apologise for its monumental error.
We sometimes forget that councils are run by humans and humans sometimes make mistakes, however elementary they might seem.
