PUPILS at New Marston First School in Oxford spent a year learning about medieval history in 1983 – then turned the clock back to dress in period costume and enjoy a medieval banquet. The 60 knights and damsels tucked into fresh fruit and drank mead and ale, served by teachers Rita West-Green and Sheila Allan.
Children at the Oxford Opportunity playgroup had new toys presented to them in 1972, thanks to members of the Oxford and District Licensed Victuallers’ Association. The LVA women’s chairman, Peggy Cox, right, is seen as the youngsters tried out the toys.
