A man died following a crash between a car and a lorry on the A34 near Abingdon.
The accident happened about 1am today in a layby on the northbound carriageway, near the Marcham interchange.
Thames Valley Police said a black VW Golf crashed into a lorry parked in a layby, between the Marcham and Hinksey Hill junctions.
The driver of the Golf was pronounced dead at the scene.
David Paull, spokesman for Thames Valley Police, said the driver had not been formally identified and was not thought to live locally.
He said: “Officers are trying to get in touch with the driver’s family.”
The road was closed until 8am while collision investigators attended the crash scene.
Pc Gary Froud, of Abingdon roads policing, who is investigating the collision, said: “We would like to hear from anyone that may have seen the vehicle prior to the collision or who witnessed the collision itself.”
A spokesman for Oxford coroner’s office confirmed today the driver had not yet been identified.
