Fire crews from across Oxfordshire were called last night to deal with a fire at a thatched cottage in West Oxfordshire.

They were called to Fox End Cottage in Chastleton, near the Gloucestershire border, when the blaze started after 10pm.

Neighbours alerted the owners to the fire and they were able to escape before calling firefighters.

Crews from Chipping Norton, Hook Norton, Banbury and Stow-on-the-Wold dealt with the incident and managed to salvage most of the furniture in the cottage.

Firefighters from Eynsham, Witney, Kidlington, Rewley Road in Oxford and Wheatley, also attended with specialist appliances and crews are still damping down the cottage this morning.
