BICESTER’S mayor is urging residents to get involved in this year’s carnival and make it the best one yet.
The annual carnival takes place at the sports ground, off Oxford Road, on Sunday, July 12.
Places are still available for groups and organisations to decorate a float and take part in the procession.
The carnival’s theme this year is unity, a celebration of the ethnic communities across the town. Among the entertainment on the day includes a dog and duck display, a mobile farm, a fair, falconry show and the annual wheelie bin race.
Mayor James Porter said: “I would like to encourage everyone to come along to the Bicester Carnival on Sunday, July 12.
“It’s now a firm favourite with local people and every year the carnival parade gets bigger and better with more people taking part.
“This year it would be great to see the biggest parade ever with all the Bicester schools and many more local groups and organisations taking part.
“The theme this year is about celebrating differences and working together.
“So take part and let’s make it a great day for Bicester and hope the sun shines, too.”
Anyone interested in taking part should call Bicester Town Council on 01869 252915.
