Sir – Many people in Oxfordshire are concerned on financial, environmental and health grounds about the current county council Conservative administration’s decision to use incineration as a means of waste disposal, without considering alternatives. In my view, the most problematic issue is that of the cost of this choice to the taxpayer.
The public are already very annoyed by politicians’ attitudes towards spending taxpayer’s cash on their expenses.
The incinerator proposal would cost many times more, tying taxpayers in to 25-year contracts. Let us not let them spend even more of our money through this financially questionable decision on waste management.
