OUR attempt to publish the first half of the panoramic photograph taken at East Oxford School in 1965 (Memory Lane, March 30) didn’t prove very successful.
Readers complained that it was so small that they couldn’t identify themselves or their classmates, even with a magnifying glass!
So here it is again!
The picture was sent in by David Martin, of Egerton Road, Headington, whose father Bill was headmaster from 1948 to 1971.
The boys and girls schools were run separately until 1948, when they were merged to form East Oxford Secondary School. It closed in 1973 when the city switched to a three-tier system of education, with first, middle and upper schools.
Do you recognise yourself in the picture? And any memories of the school to share with readers?
