Counting has started in the Oxfordshire County Council elections.
About 140 counters are at the White Horse leisure centre in Audlett Drive in Abingdon.
The first indication is that there was a healthy turn-out of voters in West Oxfordshire of 41.9 per cent.
County leader Keith Mitchell said: “Today is about democracy and who runs Oxfordshire.
“It’s very exciting. I hope to build on what we (the Conservatives) have but it is down to the elections and we will work with what they give us.”
The Tories can afford to lose six of their 44 seats and still hold on to overall power at the county.
Results will be posted on oxfordtimes.co.uk as soon as they are available.
