HOORAY for Evan Harris for extending his lease at our expense, but he must think we are stupid.
We mere mortals are expected to pay our Capital Gains Tax at the end of the year in which the transaction is completed not when we think we will, as he suggests by saying he will pay it when he leaves Parliament.
The maximum share to the taxpayer is 40 per cent, so the charitable Evan will be putting 60 per cent into his pocket. Only £120,000. Good chap. Well done.
