SCORES of people across Bicester have signed up to ditch their car and get on their bike for a day.
Bicester Town Council is taking part in Bike Week by making Friday, June 19, a cycle day.
So far, the town’s two secondary schools and businesses including Wyevale, Britta and Morleys have signed up to take part.
Organiser Colin Pickup said there were huge benefits in cycling to work or school, including a healthier lifestyle and less traffic on the roads.
He said: “We are asking all people who travel between two and five miles, to leave the cars at home and enjoy a leisurely ride into work.
“Most of the large companies in Bicester will be taking part – now we’ve got to hope we get good weather.”
Bicester’s police community support officers will be in Garth Park between 3pm and 6pm to offer security advice and postcode mark bicycles.
Cycle shop Broadribs will be giving advice about repairs and maintenance.
For more information or to take part, call the town council on 01869 252915.
