The M40 motorway has now reopened in both directions following this morning’s fatal crash.
The northbound and southbound carriageways were shut after two lorries and a van collided near junction 10 at Cherwell Valley Services at around 5.45am.
A lorry driver died and fire crews imposed a 200-metre exclusion area amid fears a gas canister could explode.
The northbound stretch was reopened shortly after 1pm.
Police reopened the southbound carriageways at 3pm after removing the wreckage.
Motorists are being advised by the Highways Agency to avoid the area.
Any witnesses to the crash should contact police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
