A woman was stabbed in the stomach in an attack in Banbury.

The 26-year-old woman was stabbed in Victoria Place, in Grimsbury, Banbury, at about 1.30am yesterday.

She called police who arrested a 34-year-old man in West Street on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

He has been released on bail until July 1.

Det Sgt Chris Whitwell said: “I appeal to anyone who was in this area of Banbury in the early hours of yesterday and saw a man acting suspiciously to contact police immediately.

“The victim remains in the Horton General Hospital today in a stable condition.”
