Sir – I have never voted Labour and I have been appalled by some of the revelations concerning MPs’ expenses.
However, I have to say that the story you ran in (May 28) concerning Andrew Smith’s expenses appeared to be an attempt to create an issue out of nothing, with no case to answer. From all I have seen Mr Smith is a dedicated constituency MP, much in evidence and doing good work.
Like all MPs who have done nothing wrong — and there are plenty — we (and you) should get off his back.
