Police are appealing for witnesses after money was stolen from a church in Waddesdon.
Offenders gained entry to the vestry at St Michael’s Church on Sunday, between 1pm and 3pm, and stole about £1,400 from a safe.
The money was donated by members of the community to support the church’s work in the parish.
PC Gareth Morley said: “This is one of the lowest forms of criminality: to steal money from a church, especially as it was donated by members of the community and was going to be used within the local community.
“I urge the offender to return the money to the church and appeal to anyone who witnessed anyone in the area acting suspiciously around the time of the offence to contact me, Reverend Liz Welters at St Michael’s Church or Crimestoppers.”
PC Morley can be contacted at Waddesdon police station via the 24-hour Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you do not want to talk to the police, call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
