Motorists in Bicester are being urged to leave their cars at home, and get on their bikes — just for a day.
Bicester Town Council is taking part in Bike Week by making Friday, June 19, its Cycle Day.
The council is challenging schools, companies and individuals to take part.
Organiser Colin Pickup, of the council’s sports development team, said: “We are asking all people who travel between two and five miles to leave the cars at home and enjoy a leisurely ride into work.
“We are also asking employers to arrange some light refreshments for the cyclists taking part.
“The benefits of having your staff ride in are, less traffic on roads and a healthier workforce – which in turn helps to reduce sickness and absenteeism.”
Bicester’s PCSOs will be in Garth Park from 3-6pm to offer security advice and postcode-mark bicycles, while cycle shop Broadribs will be giving advice about repairs.
