ANDREW Smith the Oxford East Labour MP has published his expenses (last Friday’s Oxford Mail).
Mr Smith has been a Labour MP for 22 years. In all that time did he ever feel there was anything vaguely wrong with the MPs’ expenses procedure?
Did he ever raise any concerns within his party? Did he ever raise any concerns in the House of Commons? The answer appears to be ‘no’.
You may ask why our Oxford East MP’s moral compass was not troubled by these arrangements.
His publication of his expenses reveals he was doing very nicely out of the deal, and if it had not been for a whistleblower in the Commons, he would have continued happily on the expenses gravy train.
As I always have said New Labour are the same old Tories.
