POLICE today appealed for witnesses after a man was bitten by a Rottweiler in Hinksey Park, Oxford.
The attack happened on Thursday, May 21, at 12.30pm and the man was left with a chunk out of his arm.
The victim, a 37-year-old man from Oxford, said: “I was walking my small dog as normal. As I was just about to leave the park I saw a Rottweiler standing, just watching, with no apparent owner or collar. It was a very, very large dog with dark markings. I put my dog on his lead and it just went for us.
“He charged straight for us. It didn’t bark, which was alarming. He had intent to harm.
“He bit my dog on the back. I tried to pick him up and in the process he bit me on my arm and lip. It was terrifying and could have been a lot worse.”
Thames Valley Police spokesman Chris Kearney said investigating officers were keen for witnesses to the incident to come forward.
He said: “There was a fight between two dogs. The man was attacked when he tried to break up the fight. He suffered injuries to his hand and face.”
