A 42-year-old man murdered in East Oxford was today described as “funny and loving” by his family.
Devon Delroy McPherson, of Divinity Road, Oxford, died when he was stabbed in the neck following an argument with another man in Ridgefield Road, shortly before midday on Monday, May 18.
He staggered to The Regal nightclub, in Cowley Road, and, despite help from paramedics and police, died at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
This afternoon his family, from Luton, in Bedfordshire, released a photograph and a tribute.
They said: “Devon was a character like none other. He was a funny, loving, caring son, father, uncle and friend.
“Devon was taken away from us so suddenly in both a brutal and upsetting way without the chance for goodbyes.
“This tragic incident has broken many hearts and Devon will be greatly missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to know the real him.
“The family wish to be left alone to grieve in peace.”
Police investigating the murder still want anyone who was in the area at the time of the stabbing to contact detectives on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
