EIGHT prison officers from Bullingdon Prison, near Bicester, hope to have raised £2,000 for ex-Forces charity Combat Stress after completing the Three Peaks challenge over three days.
The group climbed the three highest mountains in mainland UK – Snowdon, in Wales, Scafell Pike, in the English Lake District, and Ben Nevis, in Scotland.
In total, they clocked up a total of about 11,000ft climbed.
Organiser Graham Howarth, 50, said: “The group of us from Bullingdon go walking regularly and decided to do something more.
“It was harder than we thought, but everyone enjoyed it.”
They decided to help Combat Stress because many of them have family connections to the Forces.
The rest of the the team were Mr Howarth’s daughter Kate, and colleagues Andrew Bray, Mark Reed, Graham Gardner, Gav Gasson and Stef Smith.
