YOU report that Keith Mitchell, leader of Oxfordshire County Council, is urging voters to judge his party on its achievements over the past four years, when they go to the polls on June 4 (Oxford Mail, May 18).
While the Conservatives have controlled the county council, their ‘achievements’ include making a complete mess of Oxford’s traffic, and charging many residents for parking outside their own homes.
They have obviously learnt nothing from their past mistakes, as they still intend to close Queen Street, George Street and Magdalen Street to most traffic, thus clogging up adjacent streets (like St Aldate’s and the already-crowded Beaumont Street) and making life even harder for the disabled and the elderly.
