MOTHER and son team Jo and Matt Roberts led more than 60 families in an art session on an Oxford estate.
They led printing tutorials at Rose Hill Primary School, in The Oval, last Saturday.
Children aged three and over were able to experiment with traditional printing methods – and each made a design to take home.
They also created an artwork which will be included in a book for display at Modern Art Oxford in Pembroke Street.
Ms Roberts said: “People were really interested in the old-fashioned printing methods and we used quite large letters which had not been handled for decades.
“Everyone who took part was very enthusiastic and there was a wonderful buzz on the day – it was quite frantic.”
Frankie Arnold, a spokes-man for the gallery, said: “Children came along with their parents or grandparents and had a great time picking out letters and putting them in the ink.
“They got to take a design home and completed another design so that it could be included in our book for the museum. Jo and Matt did a fantastic job leading the art session and I think everyone had a great time.”
The art session, called Making My Mark, was part of Art in Rose Hill, a three-year programme of visual arts activities organised by Modern Art Oxford.
Art in Rose Hill events have been taking place on the estate and at the Pembroke Street gallery for the past two years.
Ms Roberts has staged exhibitions across the UK. Mr Roberts, 23, a graduate of the Wimbledon School of Art, has also exhibited nationwide.
