Police are appealing for information following a sexual assault in Oxford today.
Between 2.35am and 2.45am, a 21-year-old woman was walking along Magdalen Road when she was approached by a man on a bicycle at the junction of Essex Street.
He pushed her to the ground and assaulted her. The woman fought back and as a result the offender cycled off in the direction of Iffley Road.
The offender was white, aged in his late teens to early thirties, around 5ft 9in tall and of medium build. He was almost bald or had very short cropped hair, was clean shaven and wearing a red top.
Det Sgt Steve Raffield said: “This is a very serious incident on a young woman who was walking home. I appeal to anyone who was in this area, either late last night, or in the early hours of this morning, and saw a man on a bicycle to contact police immediately.
“I also appeal to anyone who may have been approached by a man of this description to get in touch.”
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Det Sgt Raffield via Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 0845 8 505 505. If you don’t want to speak to police and don’t want to leave your name contact the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
