Police today raided homes in Oxford in connection with a shooting in Barton in April.
At about 6.30am officers entered six addresses and arrested people for conspiracy to murder:
- A 29-year-old man was arrested at an address in Crotch Crescent, Marston
- A 19-year-old man was arrested at an address in Ridgeway Road, Risinghurst
- A 23-year-old man was arrested at an address in Chillingworth Crescent, Wood Farm
- Two men, aged 23 and 18, were arrested at two addresses in Leiden Road, Woodfarm
- A 15-year-old boy was arrested at an address in Pauling Road, Wood Farm.
At about 10.40pm on Tuesday, April 21, two men knocked on the door of a house in Brampton Road.
When the occupant came to the door, a 59-year-old man, they asked him to confirm his name and pulled out a gun. When the man saw the weapon he closed the door and the shot missed him and hit the wall.
Det Chief Insp Colin Seaton said: “Today’s warrants were carried out following the ongoing investigation into the shooting in Barton in April.
“It is now a month on from the incident and our investigation is still very active. We are treating this as a targeted incident, and offences involving firearms in the county are rare.
"As you would expect a robust and determined investigation will always follow incidents of this serious nature and I would like to reassure the community of Oxford that we are doing everything we can to bring the people responsible for this incident to justice.
“I would like to thank the community of Oxford for their co-operation and assistance with our investigation but would urge anyone who has further information that could assist our enquiries to contact police immediately or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”
