Five men and one teenager have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder, in connection with a shooting in Barton in April.
At 6.30am this morning police officers raided six homes across the city.
A 29-year-old man was arrested in Crotch Crescent, Marston, a 19-year-old man was arrested in Ridgeway Road, Risinghurst and a 23-year-old man was arrested in Chillingworth Crescent, Wood Farm.
A 23-year-old and an 18-year-old were also arrested at separate addresses in Leiden Road, Wood Farm, and a 15-year-old boy was arrested in Pauling Road, Wood Farm.
Those arrested have not been named and are currently in police custody.
At around 10.40pm on April 21, two men knocked on the door of a house in Brampton Road.
When a 59-year-old man came to the door, they asked him to confirm his name and pulled out a gun, but when the man saw the weapon he closed the door.
A shot was fired but missed him and hit the wall.
Det Ch Insp Colin Seaton said: “Today’s warrants were carried out following the ongoing investigation into the shooting in Barton in April.
“It is now a month on from the incident and our investigation is still very active.
“We are treating this as a targeted incident, and offences involving firearms in the county are rare.
“As you would expect a robust and determined investigation will always follow incidents of this serious nature and I would like to reassure the community of Oxford that we are doing everything we can to bring the people responsible for this incident to justice.
