Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary in Middle Way, Summertown today.
At 4am, a 82-year-old man was woken up to the sound of a thief entering his bedroom.
Seeing that the man had woken up, the thief said: “Sorry mate, wrong house,” and quickly left his bedroom.
The man followed him downstairs and saw the thief leave the house through the back door into the back garden.
Cash and ornaments were among items taken, some of which were later recovered near to the property.
Det Sgt Louise Tompkins, from the Oxford Burglary team, said: “We would like to speak to anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area at this time.”
