Police are appealing for witnesses after a burglary in Pigeons Close, Wantage, at 4pm yesterday.
While gardening in her front garden, an 83-year-old woman was approached by two white men saying that they had lost their football in her back garden.
The woman went to meet them in her back garden and it appears that one of the men then went round to her front garden and forced the front door open.
The house was searched, but it appears that nothing was stolen.
One of the men was in his late twenties, about 5ft 5in tall, with dark, combed-back hair. He had a slim build and a long face. He was wearing a dark waist-length anorak.
The other man was in his thirties, of broad build and with a plump face. He had a foreign accent and was wearing a black jacket and flat cap.
Det Sgt Louise Tompkins, of the Oxford Burglary team, said: “We are looking to speak to anyone who saw two men matching these descriptions in the area to come forward.”
If you have any information regarding the incident, please call Det Sgt Tompkins 0845 8 505 505, the 24-hour Thames Valley Police non-emergency number. If you don’t want to speak to police or give your name, please call the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
