A 30-year-old man was this morning arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a cyclist was stabbed in Cowley, Oxford.
The 50-year-old victim walked into Oxford Probation Service, in Oxford Road, last Friday afternoon, with a wound to his stomach, claiming he had fallen off his bike.
Police and ambulance arrived and determined he had been stabbed.
He remains at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford, in a serious but stable condition.
Police arrested a 30-year-old man, in Bath Street, St Clements, Oxford, on suspicion of attempted murder at 7.15am today. He remains in custody.
Police spokesman Victoria Brandon said officers believe the stabbing took place on the junction of Cleveland Road and Oxford Road, in Cowley, at 1pm, on Friday and are appealing for witnesses.
The incident is not believed to be linked to the murder of Devon Delroy McPherson, 42, of Divinity Road, Oxford, who was spotted cycling around Magdalen Road and Ridgefield Road in East Oxford shortly before he was stabbed in the neck. No one has been arrested in connection with the murder.
