AS Pauline Liddington’s mayoral year came to a close, she had just one more job to do.
That was to honour Bicester’s unsung heroes by presenting the annual good Citizen Awards.
Eight people received awards this year for their dedication to a host of local organisations.
These included Eileen Penhallow, in recognition of her enthusiasm and tireless dedication to fundraising for community and charitable organisations.
Rita and Keith Taylor, who founded and have run Bicester Theatre Club for the past 21 years, Paul and Adrianne Crockett, for their work at Bicester East Community Association.
Also Kirsty Lowe, in recognition of her outstanding commitment to Langford Village Community Association, Jill Edwards, for her dedication to Bicester Scout Group, and Ellie Thompson, for her work as Scout leader for the children of Langford Village.
Mrs Liddington said: “All of these awards were well deserved, but I met many more volunteers in Bicester during my year as mayor whose only reward for their hard work is the satisfaction of knowing they have done a good job. ”
