CHILTERN Railways chairman Adrian Shooter drove his classic car down a ramp to cut a ribbon and officially open the operator’s first decked car park.
An extra 160 car parking spaces have been added to Bicester North Station after prefabricated modular decking was built at the site in less than two months. It brings the total parking spaces at the station to almost 600.
Work started on the single-level decking in March and was built section by section to avoid closing large areas of the car park.
Mr Shooter, who drove his Ford V8 Coupe for the event, said: “This is the first one of these we have done. Haddenham is next and we have two or three others in the pipeline.
“It’s all about making it easier for people to get to the station and park.”
Commuter Peter Foley, of Fritwell, said: “I’m very pleased with the new car park at Bicester as this will give greater opportunity for parking at what was an over crowded station car park.”
