Sir – The other day I was nearly knocked off my bike by a Control Plus warden on a scooter executing a manoeuvre with more enthusiasm than skill.

I noticed that the rider was riding on L-plates, which means that he had not been fully trained to use one of the key pieces of equipment he uses every day. I believe that Control Plus is one of those ‘agencies’ designed to obscure the number of people working in the public sector, but all the same, it is difficult not to reflect that it is easy to increase profit on a public contract by skimping on training . . .
