Mick Heavey’s letter in Saturday’s Oxford Mail made a valid point.
Those in control at the county and city councils often don’t seem to have enough common sense to make a realistic and workable decision themselves about Oxford’s traffic problems.
Take the Barton bridge proposal. Again, they have failed to realise that the problem is not how to get into the city centre but where to park and how to move around.
Ring roads and bridges only skirt around the problem.
City centre routes need a complete redesign – but, of course, the historic college fraternity may object to any improvements.
