Police this afternoon renewed an appeal for information on the murder of a man in East Oxford.
At about 11.45am yesterday, a black man was seen to cycle past the Regal, Cowley Road.
Shortly after, the same man was seen arguing with another man in Ridgefield Road and then at about 11.50am a man staggered into the Regal with stab wounds.
Police officers and paramedics attempted to save the man’s life at the scene but he was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Det Chief Insp Mick Saunders said: “Police visited four addresses last night; three in Ridgefield Road and one in Drove Acre Road, but no arrests were made.
"We are continuing with our enquires today with over 30 detectives working on the investigation.
“I would like to reassure the community that this appears to be a targeted, deliberate, attack and our investigation continues today to identify and arrest the person responsible.
“I appeal to anyone who has information that could help us with our enquiries to please contact police immediately.”
A post-mortem examination is expected to take place today. The victim has not yet been formally identified.
