Thousands of runners have hit the city’s streets for this year’s annual Town and Gown race in aid of the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.
Race-goers rushed across the start line at St Cross Road, near University Parks, at 10am after the run was started by 22-year-old muscular dystophy sufferer Christopher Grant, of Charlbury.
Three thousand runners will pass picturesque Brasenose, Balliol, Trinity, Wadham, Keble and Mansfield colleges and during the 10km race.
Among those pounding the streets is Mr Grant’s father, Phillip Grant, who is dressed as a medieval wench.
The fittest competitors should cross the finish line within about half an hour.
It is hoped the 28th annual fun run will raise about £50,000 for the charity.
