Remember the old days when common sense ruled on our roads?
Remember when you could be done for parking opposite a junction; ‘double parking’ (parking on both sides of the road producing a single lane of traffic); car parking with two wheels on the pavement; and pavement cycling?
Now, Oxfordshire County Council, supported sheep-like by Oxford City Council and Thames Valley Police, frequently actively promotes these antisocial and potentially dangerous activities, backed up by ugly, expensive street markings and ‘furniture’ – including chicanes on blind bends forcing you on to the wrong side of the road.
Why? Certainly not to make themselves popular. And we’re stupid enough to allow them to do it because we’ve been brainwashed to believe they actually know what they are doing. But ask yourselves how many of these overpaid bureaucrats could actually hold down a similarly paid job in private industry?
Some of these individuals hold down well-paid positions but frequently waste our money on advisers. Why not employ people with the requisite knowledge anyway rather than pay twice?
