Nearly 50 people gathered on the A420 Folly Hill layby to pay their respects to four soldiers killed in Afghanistan who returned to the UK yesterday.
Members of the Faringdon branch of the Royal British Legion, town mayor John Gillman and Vale of White Horse District Council chairman Alison Rooke saluted the cortege as it passed.
Many more individuals stopped to pay their respects on the streets in Oxford.
The men were being taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for post mortem examinations.
