In celebration of English wine week, try this mixed case of delicious English wines produced in Oxfordshire.
The English Wine Week mixed case costs £94 and includes three bottles each of the following four wines.
Crispin 2007, Brightwell Vineyard, Wallingford: Winner of a gold medal in the Concours de Vignerons Indépendent tasting held in Angers, France, on May 9, this wine is made from the reichensteiner and bacchus grape varieties which produce delightful flavours of ultra fresh apples and pears: aromatic, clean and delicious.
Oxford Flint 2007, Brightwell Vineyard, Wallingford: This delicious wine is made from huxelrebe and chardonnay. It shows wonderfully steely and minerally fruit (reminiscent of the riesling grape) with fresh summer fruits backed up by good firm acidity. A superb match with summer salads and fish dishes.
Callaghans Furlong 2007, Hendred Vineyard, East Hendred: Madeleine angevine is a grape ideally suited to the chalk hills of the Berkshire Downs. Here, Steve and Viviane Callaghan have produced a crisp yet wonderfully ripe wine with lovely minerality that makes a perfect partner to smoked salmon, asparagus or any salad — perfect for a summer’s evening.
Oxford Rosé 2007, Brightwell Vineyard, Wallingford: This tasty dry rosé is made from the dornfelder grape variety and works very well as an aperitif or with food —especially pink salmon which it compliments perfectly with its fresh flavours of cherry and strawberry. A refreshingly dry and crisp rosé for any occasion.
