VISITORS to the annual May fair of Charlton Primary School, in Wantage, enjoyed fine weather and saw town mayor Patrick O’Leary open a new sensory garden, above.
The garden was designed by pupils at the school with help from parents, teachers and local businesses, including RWE nPower – the owner of Didcot power station – to excite each of the five senses. Children also took part in Maypole dancing and there was a range of stalls and sideshows for visitors.
The popular annual community event was run by the school’s Parent Teacher Association and raised £4,000. All proceeds go to the school.
Mr O’Leary said: “A good time was had by all.”
