The boarding accommodation at a Banbury public school has been extended as part of a £3m investment package.
Tudor Hall School’s sixth form boarding house now has 97 rooms, and is the first stage of work to take place. It will be followed by the refurbishment of existing accommodation for staff and pupils, and improvements to the common room and laundry facilities.
The project is being carried out by builder Morgan Ashurst, and is due to be completed in 2012.
Head teacher Wendy Griffiths said: “It is wonderful to see the first phase of our project draw to a successful close, and we are all excited about next term, when students will move into the new accommodation.
“All the works are being completed to incredibly high standards and the result is a contemporary and comfortable living and work space for pupils, which will make a huge difference to their everyday lives.”
Established in 1850, Banbury-based Tudor Hall is a small all-girls boarding school set in Oxfordshire parkland.
Funding came from the Oxford-based branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
Relationship manager Denise Blackwell said: “The new accommodation will offer fantastic facilities for the school’s sixth form pupils and the improvement works to the existing block mean that it will soon follow suit.
“I look forward to seeing the development as it progresses.”
