AS a schoolboy in the 1970s I wrote to Margaret Thatcher MP and sent her a fifty pence donation to party funds. In return I received a letter and hand written receipt.
I wonder, nearly 40 years later, how many MPs would care to give you a receipt for this amount, and what this tells us about morality then and now?
I still have the letter and it serves as a reminder to respect the public purse and, in doing so, those you represent.
