I would like to give a personal thank-you through the Oxford Mail. I am the first person in Oxfordshire to have taken part in the paired shared donor scheme.
Three weeks ago I donated a kidney to someone in Guy’s Hospital, London, while that person’s partner donated one to my son Matt.
We all underwent the procedure in Manchester.
I would like to thank the Oxford Mail for your coverage of this story and for promoting the campaign to get people to sign up to become a donor – or, in my case, a live donor.
I would also like to thank my family and friends and the people of Summertown who have sent their best wishes.
I am also grateful to the staff at the Churchill Hospital, and in Manchester. They took great care of myself and my son.
We are both doing very well and still recovering. Matt is having the time of his life.
We are proof that these schemes work, and show what a wonderful job the hospitals and the media do.
Thanks again.
Diana Berry, Summertown, Oxford
