A minor shunt on the A34 near Oxford caused traffic jams all the way to the M40.
A Volvo lorry and a Volkswagen Passat collided in roadworks on the southbound carriageway of the A34 at the Pear Tree junction at 11.30am.
The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with minor injuries.
The crash brough traffic to a standstill between Pear Tree and Weston-on-the-Green, near to junction 9 with the M40.
Police reopened both southbound lanes at 1pm.
