A FORMER BMW worker who sold £44,659 of car parts stolen from the Cowley plant was jailed for 14 months.
Sacha Delastic, who had worked at the factory for seven years, sold the parts on Internet auction site eBay across a two-year period. The 25-year-old diagnostics specialist claimed he bought the parts at car boot sales and markets in Finmere, Tetsworth and Blackbird Leys, but admitted believing they were stolen.
Carolyn Oakley, prosecuting at Oxford Crown Court, said factory bosses hired a firm to investigate Delastic after receiving an anonymous tip-off letter.
She said: “Records from eBay showed 695 products had been sold from the account. All of these products were BMW or Mini items.”
Delastic, of Fernhill Close, Tiddington, near Thame, admitted handling stolen goods. He was cleared of a further charge of theft.
Richard Thomas, defending, said Delastic had lost his £20,000-a-year job because of what he had done.
A hearing under the Proceeds of Crime Act will be held on August 17.
