Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Iffley Turn last night.

At about 8.45pm, a 26-year-old man was walking near to the Tree Hotel when three men came up to him and assaulted him with an Artweeks banner and stole his mobile phone, Seiko watch and an orange and white bag.

The man was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital with cuts, bruising and suspected broken ribs.

It is believed that all of the men were drunk and aged about 18. They were all white and one was wearing a black sweatshirt, dark trousers and has short dark hair.

Det Con Rob Barratt said: “A family who could have seen the robbery take place flagged down two police community support officers who went to find out what had happened.

“I would like to speak to the family as they could have some information essential to my investigation.

“There was also a jogger in the area at the time and I appeal to her, or anyone who may have witnessed the offence, or saw these men in the area before, or after the robbery happened, to contact police immediately.”

Anyone with information which could help the police should contact Det Con Barratt at St Aldates police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
