Police are appealing for information after a fight in Bonn Square on Saturday and a robbery on Sunday in Jericho.

At 5.30pm on Saturday there was a disturbance involving a group of about ten people, where it is believed a BB gun was fired.

A 16-year-old boy received a minor injury from the shot and the group of people dispersed.

The man who held the BB gun was black, aged between 17 and 20 and was wearing black trousers and a T-shirt with a red design on it. He had short, cropped hair.

At 2.20am on Sunday, two men were walking home in Walton Lane when two men came up to them and asked for a cigarette, threatened them with a BB gun and demanded they hand over their wallets.

Both men were black, slim, about 6ft tall and had short, black, curly hair and small mouths.

The man with the gun was wearing a red American college baseball-style jacket with grey areas and the other man was wearing a dark jacket.

Det Insp Simon Morton: “We are keeping an open mind as to whether these incidents are linked and although we are not ruling out that they might be two separate offences, there are distinct similarities.

“The weapon used was a low-powered BB gun and on both occasions caused only very minor injuries to the victims but we will not tolerate this behaviour and need to find whoever is responsible.

“I would like to appeal for anyone who may have seen these men or have any information to contact the police.”

Anyone with any information about the incident to contact Det Insp Morton at Oxford police station via 0845 8 505 505, or if you don’t want to talk to the police or give your name, call the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
