POLICE have destroyed a cannabis factory found inside a loft in a house on an Oxford estate.
About 50 mature cannabis plants were discovered when police raided the house in Field Avenue, Blackbird Leys, at 6.40am today.
A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. Last night he remained in custody.
Police said they have made the fight against drugs their number one priority on the estate after complaints by residents.
Pc Leigh Thompson, drugs co-ordinator for Oxfordshire, said: “Drugs are a huge priority for us and we will continue to crack down on those supplying and trading in them.
“The investigation is still ongoing.”
Thirteen people were arrested and thousands of pounds of cannabis, cocaine and crack cocaine were seized when police raided 10 homes across the estate during simultaneous dawn raids in March.
Anyone who has any information about drugs factories or drug dealing in the county should call Pc Thompson on 08458 505505 or speak confidentially on the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.
