Keble College’s plans to demolish the former Acland Hospital to make way for a new city centre campus were withdrawn from a council agenda yesterday.
The controversial scheme was set to be considered by the city council’s north area committee before being determined by the strategic development control committee.
Officers recommended that the £45m scheme between Woodstock and Banbury Roads should be rejected, with officers unhappy about the loss of the Grade II listed Acland building and the scheme’s impact on the North Oxford conservation area.
A council spokesman said: “The scheme was withdrawn from the agenda by officers, pending further discussion with the developers.”
